The Social Negroni
The Negroni is unquestionably one of the most popular (and delicious) gin cocktails in the world. As gin distillers, our beef is how often this cocktail is made poorly, dissuading many would-be gin lovers from embracing this somewhat bitter, spirit-forward tipple. Three simple ingredients, incredibly easy to prepare. The trick is to use the right gin; one that doesn’t clash with the beautifully balanced combination of sweet vermouth and bitter amaro (Campari). Ingredients
METHOD
Combine ingredients into a glass mixing vessel with cubed ice.
Stir for 10-15 seconds to dilute and chill liquid appropriately.
Prepare Rocks glass with single large king cube.
Strain chilled contents of your mixing vessel over king cube into glass.
Garnish with fresh orange peel (don’t forget to express the oils over the inside of your glass before dropping it on the cube).
TIP : King cubes are large, ultra-clear ice cubes made by expert ice carvers for bartenders using specialized ice-making equipment to freeze water without trapping any air bubbles. It is incredibly hard to achieve a perfectly clear ice cube without specialized equipment (trust us, we’ve tried all the gadgets). You can come close using these specialized ice cube trays available online or at your local cocktail supply shop. The benefit of these large, perfect ice cubes is that they melt much slower than smaller ice cubes meaning your drink stays cold with just the right dilution as the large cube melts oh so slowly in your glass. In summary, do use a large single ice cube, even if you purchase a silicone ice cube tray.
